You'll find great trout fishing spots in wild and varied places throughout Utah. Most will be in the northern and northeastern parts of the state, but the south central part of Utah sports some beautiful areas of wild river too. Your best bet is to do a little pre-planning and research the areas you want to explore. Visit Utah, the website of the Utah Office of Tourism, has some good starting info on their site. Here's some of what they have to say about Utah's fishing opportunities:
"Cool streams descend from rugged snowcapped mountains, feeding shimmering lakes or pausing in reservoirs where trout reach trophy proportions. Utah is a land known for sandstone icons and The Greatest Snow on Earth, yet throughout the year anglers gear up in pursuit of experiences on waters that measure up to their passion. In fact, Utah has more than 1,000 fishable lakes and numerous fishing streams."
Be sure to visit their page, Fishing in Utah, for a list of the top destinations for fishing in the state.
